Lt. Governor: RuPaul’s Connecticut Drag Queens Make Her ‘Proud to Be From Connecticut’

Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz (D) said she was “proud to be from Connecticut” as she appeared with four Democrat state lawmakers on Friday night’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race where four drag queens with ties to the Constitution State were present.

“I am joined today by our small but mighty LGBTQ+ caucus with one thing that we’d like to say: Hey, you, Amethyst, Robin, Loosey, Jax. You’ve made us all proud here in Connecticut,” Bysiewicz touted as she stood with Connecticut State Reps. Jeff Currey (D-East Hartford), Raghib Allie-Brennan (D-Bethel), Marcus Brown (D-Bridgeport), and Dominique Johnson (D-Norwalk).

The Democrat leaders were celebrating drag queens Amethyst of West Hartford, Robin Fierce of Hartford, Loosey LaDuca of Ansonia, and Jax, who was raised in Darien, and uses the Twitter handle @thatbitchjax.

“You’ve shown the nation what Connecticut has to offer, and we are working every day to protect your right to be you,” the state representatives chimed in, adding:

Because now more than ever, the world needs bright lights like each of you. So, thank you for representing our state, for showcasing your charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent, and for reminding everyone that freedom of expression is a human right.

“And now it’s time to remind all lawmakers across the country,” Bysiewicz said, with all the LGBTQ activist lawmakers joining her in stating, “Love wins.”

Gov. Ned Lamont (D) expressed his pride in the Connecticut drag queens as well.

“Thrilled that Connecticut was featured on last night’s episode of @RuPaulsDragRace,” Lamont tweeted. “Much love to all of the queens representing our state this season. We’ve got your back!”

Drag queen “Loosey” reportedly cried when the Connecticut Democrats presented their message of support and pride to the drag queens.

“My favorite thing to do is go to pride celebrations in Connecticut,” Loosey said, according to Hearst Connecticut Media. “Because I see so many kids and teenagers who look up to us. And when they see us, it makes them feel like their life isn’t going to be miserable.”

Connecticut also recently celebrated what LGBTQ activists call the “Transgender Day of Visibility” on March 31 by raising a “Trans Pride Flag” over the Connecticut State Capitol “for the first time in state history,” boasted Bysiewicz on Twitter as well.

“As we see trans rights under attack nationwide and anti-trans legislation being ushered through in countless states, I have a clear message to the trans community: we see you, we love you, we won’t stop fighting for you, and you will always have a home in Connecticut,” she continued in a thread.

Other Connecticut Democrats also took to Twitter to ensure their followers know they support the transgender cause.
