The battle lines could not be clearer.
A war has been declared on former President Donald Trump by the American Ruling Class. A war personified by the conduct of the corrupt New York County District Attorney’s Office.
And as might be expected, Trump is fighting back.
In a letter from Trump lawyer Joseph Tacopina to the New York City Department of Investigation, Trump is calling for an investigation of the “weaponized” — read: corrupt — New York County District Attorney’s Office, including three specific prosecutors, not to mention current District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
He opens by requesting “an independent investigation into the unprecedented multi-year probe of President Trump by the New York County District Attorney’s Office’s (“NYDA”).”
Then he says this:
[S]ince at least 2019, the NYDA has weaponized its office, scouring every aspect of President Trump’s personal life and business affairs, going back decades, in the hopes of finding some legal basis — however far-fetched, novel or convoluted — to prosecute him in an effort to interfere and disrupt his political ambitions. When one legal theory would not pan out, instead of discontinuing its politically motivated investigation, the NYDA simply pivoted to a new theory, because it was determined to identify some alleged crime — indeed, any alleged crime — it thought it could get away with prosecuting.
Tacopina goes on to perfectly describe in detail the Ruling Class mentality that pervades, in this case, the NYDA office. The three prosecutors he cites “hated President Trump” and therefore “weaponized their office by singling him out for targeted prosecution.” They had a “record of extreme partisanship.” One prosecutor took “a leave of absence from a Hillary Clinton-tied law firm” and “donated thousands of dollars to Federal candidates, including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Hakeem Jeffries, Andrew Cuomo, and Chuck Schumer.”
Tellingly, when one prosecutor’s appointment was announced “with the specific task to investigate and prosecute President Trump, his friends called or emailed him, urging [him] to ‘go get’” Trump. According to Tacopina, “in [this guy’s] social circle, ‘getting’ President Trump was prestigious.” Behold: the Ruling Class at work. Talk about Trump Derangement Syndrome.
The Tacopina letter closes by requesting that the New York City Department of Investigation “conduct a full and fair investigation” into the three prosecutors involved, plus District Attorney Alvin Bragg himself, as well as his office. Tacopina adds that all those involved “have improperly weaponized their office for political gain — at the extraordinary expense of New York City — in an effort to undermine a future Federal election and push their own personal, political agenda to the detriment of American citizens.”
In fact, it would appear that these prosecutors should be expelled from the legal profession altogether, disbarred, disgraced, losing their law licenses for good.
A word here about “the Ruling Class.”
Back in 2010, the late Boston University professor Angelo M. Codevilla wrote about the Ruling Class here in the pages of The American Spectator. Rush Limbaugh read it, and Codevilla made so much sense that Rush read his article on the air, which helped convince Angelo to expand it into a book. Rush wrote the introduction to what became the bestselling book The Ruling Class: How They Corrupted America and What We Can Do About It.
Codevilla defined the Ruling Class this way:
From Atlanta to Seattle, today’s Ruling Class was exposed to a narrow, uniform set of ideas, and adopted a set of habits and tastes, as well as a secular canon of sacred myths, saints, sins, and ritual language. The class’s chief pretension is its intellectual superiority: its members claim to know things that the common herd cannot. It confuses its own opinions with “science.” While most Americans pray to the God who created us in His own image, our Ruling Class prays to themselves as saviors of the planet and as shapers of mankind in their own image. While the Ruling Class thinks that Americans are unfit to run their own lives, most Americans have noticed that our Ruling Class has lost every war it has fought, run up an unplayable national debt, and generally made life worse.
When Codevilla notes that “the Ruling Class is giving greater and greater power to administrative agencies to make and enforce the rules by which we live,” no better example of this is out there than the Ruling Class War on Trump — which has been vividly illustrated by no less than those Ruling Class totalitarians running the New York County District Attorney’s Office. Not to mention that the precisely same Ruling Class mentality in this War on Trump has surfaced in the FBI, the Department of Justice, and the corrupt Jan. 6 Committee.
Codevilla describes the Ruling Class as one that views millions of Americans as a “Country Class” filled with “stupidity, racism, and violent tendencies.” He wrote this in 2010 — a full five years before Donald Trump announced his run for president. But in today’s world, Codevilla’s description of the Ruling Class view of those millions who make up the Country Class is exactly the kind of garbage routinely attributed to millions of Trump supporters.
No one is more aware of this than President Trump himself — not to mention his supporters.
Start with the recent Trump CPAC appearance. The conference was filled with thousands of Trump supporters, the enthusiasm manifested in the sea of red “Make America Great Again” Trump hats, T-shirts, and buttons. He ran away with the CPAC straw poll, winning 62 percent of the vote. On the last afternoon of the four-day gathering, Trump not only received a tumultuous reception, but gave a speech that was effectively a scorching of the beliefs of the American Ruling Class. Among other things, the former president said this:
The sinister forces trying to kill America have done everything they can to stop me, to silence you, and to turn this nation into a socialist dumping ground for criminals, junkies, Marxists, thugs, radicals, and dangerous refugees that no other country wants….
We’re a nation in decline. Our enemies are desperate to stop us because they know that we are the only ones who can stop them. They know that this room is so important, the people in this room. They know that we can defeat them. They know that we will defeat them. But they’re not coming after me, they’re coming after you and I’m just standing in their way.
Yet, in fact, the disgraceful — not to mention shockingly unprofessional — conduct of these New York prosecutors is but the tip of the Ruling Class iceberg. That Ruling Class arrogance and abuse of power can be seen within the federal government, in nests ranging from the FBI to the Department of Justice to the IRS (recall Lois Lerner) to, but of course, Dr. Anthony Fauci of the National Institutes of Health.
It was on full display, as Trump has noted, in the “Russia, Russia, Russia hoax, [and] the Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine impeachment scam.” Also on that list of Ruling Class corruption would be the FBI spying on the Trump 2016 campaign, “the ‘No Collusion’ Mueller report,” the FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago, the corrupt Jan. 6 Committee hearings and report, and the Stormy Daniels business.
Trump notes correctly that all of this has been nothing less than a “witch hunt” — and I would add a “Ruling Class witch hunt.”
In short, the enthusiastic support for President Trump at CPAC showed exactly the awareness of his supporters that he — and they — are under attack. And the weaponization of the New York County District Attorney’s office is a perfect illustration of the war between Trump and the Ruling Class. Not to mention that it exhibits the contempt of that Ruling Class for the millions of Americans who represent the “Country Class” — the latter who just so coincidentally are Trump supporters.
Suffice to say, this war between the Ruling Class and the Country Class has been building for a long time — beginning way back before Trump was running for and elected president.
Without doubt, Trump gets it. As he said at CPAC in a perfect description of the Ruling Class–Country Class battle:
They know that we can defeat them. They know that we will defeat them. But they’re not coming after me, they’re coming after you and I’m just standing in their way. That’s all I’m doing. I’m standing in their way. And that’s why I’m here today. That’s why I’m standing before you, because we are going to finish what we started. We started something that was America. We’re going to complete the mission. We’re going to see this battle through to ultimate victory. We’re going to make America great again.
And the irony here?
If, in fact, there is the Ruling Class War on Trump that brings an indictment of Donald Trump? This will vividly showcase the corruption already on display by the Ruling Class thugs running the New York County District Attorney’s Office. And the former president’s popularity will skyrocket.
Amen to that.
